Renée Ann Williams was born on January 22, 1955 in Bakersfield, California. The first born of Joe W. and Alice Ann Williams. Renée attended Bakersfield High School and was involved in social clubs and in the choir. She enjoyed singing.
Renée attended Alhambra High School for her junior and senior years. Renée was on the speech and debate team. She won numerous competitions, and received many trophies.
Renée attended Cal State University, Los Angeles.
Renée worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for over 20 years. She was a conscientious and faithful worker.
Renée was a devout Christian and was introduced to the Christian faith as a child at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bakersfield, CA. She attended St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Bakersfield, CA. She attended Mount Moriah Baptist Church and Agape Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA. At Agape she served as First Lady, worked on the Evangelism team, and taught Sunday School.
Renée resided in Southern California for many years and returned to Bakersfield in 1999. She reunited with the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Renée enjoyed attending church services and Christian programs, especially musicals. She enjoyed watching TV, movies, and going to the theater. She could talk about every character and scenes in a movie. Family was important to Renée. She would frequently call to check on her relatives. She looked forward to gathering with the family for special celebrations and she enjoyed hanging out with her cousins.The last gathering was in June when all of the cousins celebrated her sister Sherry’s birthday. Renée thoroughly enjoyed herself! Renée looked forward to her yearly vacations. Her favorite vacation spot was on the coast. Renée was a caring, and supportive mother. Tyree recalls sacrifices she made for him to participate in his karate program. She would adjust her work schedule so that she could attend the matches and work the concession stands.
Renée transitioned December 6, 2024 in Bakersfield, CA. Renée was preceded in death by her parents Joe W. and Alice Ann Williams, and brother Joe Williams, Jr. Renée leaves to cherish her memories, her son Tyree Douglas Toliver, Jr., sister Sherry Cappello (Torry), Aunts Loretta Martin, Donnie Williams, Gloria Williams, and Barbara Williams. Uncle Windell Toliver. Niece Amber Earl (Christopher) and Nephew Christopher Cappello (Rochelle). She has numerous cousins and a host of friends.
Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
